Write a Review
The Middle East market has an undeniable affection for Trucks and SUV’s with great off-road capabilities. Unparalleled feel of toughness with a whiff of swag is what makes up for a hunky ride. The introduction of the All New 2017 Ford F-150 Raptor to the Middle East will certainly give a boost to competition in off-road category vehicles. This particular model is being said to have more agility, versatility, and roominess. All these qualities make it the toughest, smartest and most capable Ford F-150 Raptor ever.
The Ford F-150 Raptor has been developed following the legacy of Baja race truck, bringing uniqueness to it among off-road and performance vehicles, with a purpose-built engine, chassis, and suspension that enables to speed up in demanding desert landscapes or move over the rocky terrain.
Alike the current Ford F-150 trucks the same high-strength, aluminum alloy body and a square high-strength steel frame have been used in this truck. The 2017 Raptor, up to 227 kg lighter than the previous model, has been given a new high-output second-generation EcoBoost engine and 10-speed transmission, providing it a 21 per cent improved average torque-to-weight ratio and a 23 per cent improvement in EPA-rated combined fuel economy as compared with the previous generation Raptor. The new engine is more efficient and powerful than the current 6.2-litre V8, delivering 421HP* at 6,000rpm and 678 Nm of torque* at 3,750rpm. (* As per Gulf Standardisation Organisation (GSO) ratings.)
Powered by second-generation high-output 3.5-litre EcoBoost® engine that produces more power with greater efficiency than the outgoing 6.2-litre V8.
Within performance circles, Ford’s EcoBoost engine is hugely admired by truck enthusiasts and racing fans. Already robust and efficient, Ford developed the second-generation 3.5-litre EcoBoost, which the Ford Performance team then customized specifically for the new Raptor.
3.5-litre EcoBoost engine main upgrades include a new twin direct and port-fuel injection strategy, a redesigned twin-turbocharger system with electronic wastegate, and a redesigned valve train and variable-displacement oil pump.
Aggressive turbo compressors with increased boost calibrations, cast stainless steel manifolds and full dual exhaust, oil-cooled pistons, and more aggressive engine control calibrations are main among the high-output performance enhancements for Raptor.
Further improving Raptor’s performance are four-wheel-drive, torque-on-demand transfer case, with advanced, easy-to-use off-road mode driver-assist technology, making it easy to drive off-road across varying terrain.
A new transfer case, responsible for managing power distribution between the front and rear wheels, combines the best attributes of clutch-driven, on-demand all-wheel drive with durable, mechanical-locking four-wheel drive to send power to the wheels in slippery conditions.
The pioneering off-road driving mode technology has evolved into a Terrain Management System™ that enables the driver to select modes to optimize driving dynamics to environmental conditions – from snow to mud, sand and more.
The strongest model in the Ford F-150 Raptor line-up with a purpose-built square shaped frame features a more high-strength steel than the outgoing Raptor.
The well-polished style of this model is a vague resemblance of Trophy Trucks that are the fastest and most powerful class of off-road pickups. More than 150 mm wider than the standard F-150 for enhanced stability off-road, also boasting its first-ever dual exhaust and new 17-inch wheels with next-generation BF Goodrich All-Terrain tyres designed for off-road performance leaves no room for disappointments.
Capable With 10-Speed Automatic Transmission
The truck exhibits its tremendous capabilities with the all-new 10-speed automatic transmission, standard on the 2017 Raptor, featuring Auto Start-Stop and an integrated electric pump that improves driving efficiency.
Better optimized power and torque curves of the new 3.5-litre high-output EcoBoost engine are a result of transmission’s closer ratio between gears and Ford-patented hydraulic control system. The Raptor’s normal, sport, weather, mud/sand, rock/crawl and Baja modes along with a dozen powertrain and driver control signals in real time are monitored by the new adaptive shift algorithms ensuring the right gear at the right time for an engaging driving experience. Also, a high-speed, one-way clutch allows for non-sequential shifting.
An integrated torque converter/turbine clutch helps get rid of around one kilogram, also reducing the packaging footprint. Improved shift performance are mainly a result of weight savings. The 10-speed gearbox, which doesn’t utilize cast-iron components, uses advanced materials and alloys resulting in less weight.
The price range being AED 220,000 to 315,000 and its closest competitor is 2017 Ram 1500 Crew Cab. Ford Raptor is useful not just for off-roading capabilities, it is also effective for small item storage, cargo space, and child safety seat accommodation and towing. Offering a good balance between luxury and everyday pickup needs, it has a great space for storage and safety options, this pickup is a complete go-to. Whether it is to feel the thrills of off-roading adventure or just go for a chilled out camping night, the pickup provides for it all.
